Guest lectures in 2025

How do you make cold calling exciting?

In December, Franziska Heinritz and Andreas Nissen from @dell showed us how it’s done in Prof. Gronover’s sales lecture (Master’s in Market-Oriented Business Management)! Through an engaging workshop, they explored the challenging topic of cold calling. Particularly impressive were the open discussion with the students and the surprising conclusion – acquiring new customers can actually be great fun!

Guest lecture on the German Council of Economic Experts’ annual report

During an engaging lecture on 17 December 2025, Senior Adviser Dr Veronika Püschel provided insights into the German Council of Economic Experts’ annual report. The students filled the large lecture theatre G012.
Current economic policy issues in Germany were examined, illustrated with clear and accessible graphics on these topics. The focus was on the economic cycle, special funds and wealth distribution – presented concisely, succinctly and with impressive depth. In addition to this substantive input, students were able to see their macroeconomic fundamentals put into practice.

Attendance at the ‘Fundamentals of Taxation’ module

In mid-December, Ms Christine Schrödl and Dr Ziegelmeier from the law firm Dr Kleeberg & Partner were guest speakers at Prof. Dr Zinser’s ‘Fundamentals of Business Taxation’ lectures.
Ms Schrödl had herself studied at our university and – unsurprisingly – had also taken the Tax module. The aim of their visit was to give students an insight into the work involved in tax consultancy and auditing and to familiarise them with these professional fields.
Surprisingly, a lively discussion developed in both lecture groups, suggesting that the two speakers succeeded in sparking genuine interest among the participants.

Guest lecture on business succession

On 24 November, we were delighted to welcome Mr and Mrs Baumer from omegaconsulting GmbH, Landshut, to the university. As part of Prof. Dr Zinser’s ‘Business Succession’ event, they provided fascinating insights into the emotional journey involved in business succession.
For omegaconsulting, business succession has long been a labour of love, as sustainable handover is achieved where professional expertise and a human touch go hand in hand.

Guest lecture on the topic of group taxation

On 17 November, Ms Christine Schrödl (from left), Chartered Accountant, LL.M., M.A., in Prof. Dr Zinser’s Tax Specialisation Module on the topic of ‘Income Tax and VAT Grouping’, a subject of enormous importance to a great many companies (and groups of companies) in Germany. The associated risks and challenges are also not to be underestimated, as Ms Schrödl impressively demonstrated.
Ms Schrödl had discovered her interest in tax law during the ‘Fundamentals of Corporate Taxation’ course in her third semester and subsequently took, amongst other things, the Taxation module. After completing her bachelor’s degree, she worked at PWC in Munich and began a master’s degree whilst working. Having passed the tax adviser’s examination, she moved to the law firm Dr Kleeberg & Partner, where she is now also responsible for the training of junior colleagues.

Share Advisor to be a guest speaker at the skills module

Alumnus and founder Felix Pietsch guest speaker in the Financial Management module
Before the start of the lecture-free period, Felix Pietsch presented his share information app, ShareAdvisor, in Prof. Dr Mühlfriedel’s module.
For the students, who are focusing on the topics of share analysis and company valuation in the course, this was highly interesting from a professional perspective. It was also exciting to hear a founder’s story first-hand!

Guest lecture on crowdfunding and debt finance in practice

Edmund Pelikan, a former banker and business journalist, as well as the founder and managing director of the Landshut-based Stiftung Finanzbildung e.V., gave a presentation in the Financial Management I module on the characteristics, potential applications, and the advantages and disadvantages of crowdfunding and debt financing – from the perspective of both the company seeking capital and the investor seeking a return on their investment.
In addition to the necessary theoretical explanations, Mr Pelikan peppered his presentation with a wealth of practical case studies, which made the lecture particularly lively and engaging.
A fascinating insight into asset classes other than equities, which form the main focus of the competence module!

Guest lecture on business succession

On 24 June, as part of Prof. Dr Zinser’s ‘Business Succession’ seminar, we were treated to a fascinating guest lecture by Sebastian Schenk (pictured to the right of Prof. Dr Zinser). Together with his mother, Michaela Schenk, he runs MAWA – a family-run business based in Pfaffenhofen that specialises in clothes hangers and is firmly committed to ‘Made in Germany’.
MAWA was founded in 1948 and was successfully taken over by Michaela Schenk a few years ago. Since then, production has increased fivefold. After completing a traditional business studies degree leading to a Master’s in Production Management and spending a considerable time in consultancy, Sebastian Schenk decided to pursue his passion for production and join his mother’s company. Even as a teenager, he had a keen interest in this field, which became a reality in 2023.
In his talk, he spoke openly about the challenges and opportunities of taking over the business. What came as a particular surprise to him was the positive reception from the staff, but also the unfamiliar dynamic of suddenly finding himself in the role of boss.

His key takeaways for the students:
– Family businesses offer great opportunities, but require clarity regarding roles
– Small and medium-sized enterprises provide plenty of freedom and scope for creativity
– Entrepreneurship deserves recognition

Mr Schenk is currently responsible for purchasing, finance and production, with the aim of gradually taking over full management of the business.

Guest lecture on sustainability reporting

On 26 June, we were delighted to welcome Christoph Braun, a chartered accountant and tax adviser and partner at the firm BBT Partner, to the university! As part of Prof. Dr Krieger’s ‘External Accounting and Auditing’ module, he gave a lecture on the highly topical subject of sustainability reporting.
Following a concise overview of the current legal landscape, Mr Braun explained materiality analysis – in a practical and clear manner, using fascinating case studies. A fantastic insight into a forward-looking field!

Guest lecture on communication

Who wouldn’t want to take a look behind the scenes at Landshut University of Applied Sciences’ social media channels?
Students on the introductory marketing course had exactly this opportunity: Magdalena Hetz from Landshut University of Applied Sciences’ marketing department provided fascinating insights into the university’s communication strategy.
The discussion became particularly lively when the question arose: what content is truly relevant to students and prospective students?
From glimpses into everyday life to information about degree programmes – the opinions were varied and insightful!

Guest lecture on business valuation

On 27 May, our students on the Business Succession course had the opportunity to gain practical insights into the topic of business valuation during an engaging guest lecture by Christoph Braun, a chartered accountant and tax adviser at the firm BBT Partner in Landshut. The focus was on key questions such as: How does one realistically value a business? Which methods are suitable in which situations – and why?
Using concrete examples, various methods – such as the equity method, the entity method and the adjusted present value method – were explained with practical illustrations. It was particularly interesting to realise just how much a company’s value depends on the sector and market-related risk – especially in times of crisis such as during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Guest lecture: "Visualisation as a Business"

“LOVE it or CHANGE it or LEAVE it” Using Visual Memos to Become Self-Employed: A talk by Karina Viola Stolz
In an authentic and engaging talk, the alumna – who used to work for a large corporation – spoke about her journey as an entrepreneur. In doing so, she provided students on the Entrepreneurship & Business Model Design module (Entrepreneurial Skills 1) with valuable tips and plenty of motivation for their own entrepreneurial projects.
Prof. Dr Mühlfriedel was also delighted: “It’s wonderful when alumni of Landshut University of Applied Sciences choose an entrepreneurial path whilst still studying and are then so happy and successful with that decision!”

Visit from Texas Instruments

A visit from Texas Instruments to the introductory course on Marketing and Sales!
Our two alumni, Johanna Götz and Miriam Eherer, provided fascinating insights into global pricing in the semiconductor industry.
“It’s lovely to see alumni returning to Landshut University of Applied Sciences time and again,” said Prof. Dr Gronover.

CHECK24 in the Tax Competence Module

As part of Prof. Dr Thomas Zinser’s Taxation module, Christoph Maier, M.A., in-house tax adviser at CHECK24, was a guest speaker at Landshut University of Applied Sciences. A former student, he graduated from Landshut University of Applied Sciences in 2013, having completed the specialisation modules in Taxation and Auditing / Accounting. Mr Maier provided fascinating insights into his career path – from working as a tax clerk, through roles at a Big Four firm and his Master’s degree, to his current position at one of Germany’s largest comparison portals.
Mr Maier presented the success story and key success factors of the online comparison portal CHECK24, as well as its operating principle and product portfolio. He then provided insights into the practice of tax consultancy and his day-to-day work as an in-house tax adviser within the group of companies, which now comprises 150 limited liability companies. His remarks on the “challenges facing the tax department” were particularly fascinating, as the in-house tax adviser sees his role here as that of a “tax practice within an innovative, technology-driven company” – with different requirements to those of an external tax adviser.

Guest lecture in the Business Succession seminar

Students on the “Business Succession” seminar, led by Prof. Dr Zinser, gained an in-depth insight into the “soft factors” involved in business succession.
The guest speakers were Mr and Mrs Baumer from the management consultancy “omegaconsulting”, based in Landshut. In their presentation, they not only outlined the individual steps involved in a business handover, but also highlighted how often the emotional side of business succession is underestimated. In particular, they highlighted how often a lack of due diligence in HR matters – especially when external successors are involved – leads to the succession process failing.
The numerous practical examples and the active involvement of the students were particularly well received and created an open, pleasant atmosphere.

Guest lecture: ‘Legal aspects for start-up entrepreneurs’

What do you need to bear in mind regarding legal structures? What types of tax apply to start-ups? And what role does social security play?
In the ‘Entrepreneurial Skills’ module – led by Prof. Dr Bernd Mühlfriedel as part of the Bachelor’s degree programme in Digitalisation & Business Start-ups at Landshut University of Applied Sciences – Dr Hannes Zieglmaier from the renowned law firm Crowe Kleeberg shed light on the legal complexities and provided practical tips for the start-up world. An inspiring talk that demonstrates just how important legal expertise is for the success of a start-up!

A look at real-world practice: Financial & HR Due Diligence Workshop

As part of a joint module for the BA Tax Consultancy and BA Digitalisation & Business Start-ups degree programmes, the students of Prof. Dr Zinser (Taxation) and Prof. Dr Mühlfriedel (Entrepreneurial Skills) had the unique opportunity to learn about the theory and practice of successful financial and HR due diligence alongside experts from RSM Ebner Stolz and omegaconsulting.
What does due diligence actually mean?
It involves a comprehensive review of a company prior to an investment decision, in order to assess all risks and opportunities. Financial and HR due diligence, in particular, are crucial for gaining a clear picture of a company’s financial and human resources strengths and risks.
A big thank you to Joachim Hau, Fabian Schwender and Michael Subatzus from RSM Ebner Stolz, as well as Gerlinde and Jean-Claude Baumer from omegaconsulting, who enriched the workshop with their expert knowledge!

Insights into the digital future of production planning

During an exciting event, researchers from Fraunhofer IGCV, Mr Böck and Ms Akkaya, gave us an insight into the latest technologies in digital factory planning. The students were able to experience first-hand Plavis’ innovative 3D planning software, visTABLE, as well as NavVis’ portable 3D laser scanner, the VLX, and Flyability’s drone-mounted laser scanner, the Elios 3.
Through practical case studies and interactive exercises, the digital transformation in production planning became a tangible reality – a valuable experience!
