State recognition as a social pedagogue

Upon successful completion of the Bachelor's degree, Landshut University of Applied Sciences awards the academic degree Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) and the authorisation to use the professional title "State Accreditation social pedagogue" in accordance with Art. 1 BaySozKiPädG.

This professional title may be used by anyone who has successfully completed a course of study at a state or state-recognised higher education institution in the Free State of Bavaria in accordance with para. 2 and has not been guilty of conduct that makes them unreliable to practise the profession, in particular has not been convicted of a criminal offence referred to in Section 72a of Book Eight of the German Social Code (SGB VIII).

The course of study must fulfil certain requirements in order to be awarded state recognition (Art. 1 Para. 2 BaySozKiPädG), which are reviewed by the Bavarian State Ministry for Family, Labour and Social Affairs (§1 Para. 1 Sentence 1 AVBaySozKiPädG). These requirements include, among other things, knowledge of the science and methods of social work, knowledge of the relevant areas of German law and the completion of a practical semester of study according to certain criteria.

State Accreditation is therefore a seal of quality that confirms the professional aptitude to carry out sovereign activities as a social work specialist and is mandatory for certain activities in social work.
