Landshut University of Applied Sciences’ approach to diversity
Diversity describes the variety of people and their different perspectives, experiences and life circumstances. This includes, for example, background, gender, age, disability, religion or sexual orientation.
At Landshut University of Applied Sciences, diversity is seen as an asset. We have therefore signed the Diversity Charter, thereby committing ourselves to recognising diversity, promoting equal opportunities and fostering an open and inclusive environment.
At the same time, it is about enabling fair participation. Diversity highlights the fact that people come from different backgrounds and face different realities of life. This involves, amongst other things, taking different needs into account, ensuring access to information and services, and promoting respectful and thoughtful interaction in everyday university life.
Family and Care
Family and care responsibilities shape the daily lives of many people at the university. These include, for example, looking after children or supporting and caring for relatives. These responsibilities are an important part of social life and place different demands on students’ studies and work.
Landshut University of Applied Sciences recognises that people’s life circumstances are diverse. The aim is to create conditions that enable a work-life balance and take individual needs into account. Further information and specific support services are summarised on the relevant pages:

Campus Diversity Network
Diversity thrives on dialogue and on a variety of perspectives, experiences and ways of life. In collaboration with OTH Regensburg, an inter-university network for diversity in Bavaria has been established: Campus Vielfalt.
The two initiators, Miriam Salbeck, from the Diversity Management Unit at HAW Landshut, and Miriam Kerl, Diversity Officer and Anti-Discrimination Liaison at OTH Regensburg, have created a space where stakeholders from 18 Bavarian higher education institutions can regularly exchange ideas and work together to tackle shared challenges.
This diversity of perspectives makes it possible to identify needs and provide new impetus for the further development of diversity structures within the higher education context. The aim of the network is to learn from one another, share good practices and embed diversity sustainably in teaching, research and everyday university life in Bavaria.
