Erasmus+ is a European Union programme named after Erasmus of Rotterdam, a humanist with a universal European education in his time. Key components of the programme are the recognition of academic achievements abroad using the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) and financial support for exchange students. By signing the ERASMUS Charter for Higher Education, universities are obliged to adhere to the relevant quality standards.
The main aim of the programme is to strengthen the employability of students by promoting their mobility. At the same time, the programme aims to promote the expansion of the European Research Area by supporting the mobility of academic staff, which can be used to fund study visits, internships abroad as part of a degree course, teaching visits and further training for general university staff.
The Erasmus programme is open to all students who are regularly studying at a participating university. The same applies to teaching and administrative staff.
However, the prerequisite is that the sending and receiving universities have a corresponding bilateral agreement . Landshut University of Applied Sciences has declared the continuous expansion of international activities and partnerships in an ERASMUS + Strategy Statement.
With the Erasmus+ programme, students have the unique opportunity to spend 2 to 12 months studying or working abroad in Europe and receive financial support.
