What can I do with it after my studies?
Clinical social work supports people with mental health problems, traumatic experiences or addiction-related challenges, promotes their rehabilitation and accompanies them on the path to a stable and self-determined life.
The areas of work can be
- Inpatient, day-care and outpatient facilities in the fields of paediatric, adolescent and adult psychiatry
- (Day) clinics and surgeries
- Social psychiatric services
- Therapeutic residential communities and assisted living
- Family, child and youth welfare services
- Work with traumatised children and adults
- Support for victims and perpetrators of physical, psychological and sexual violence
- Specialist, acute and rehabilitation hospitals
- Outpatient and inpatient addiction counselling and addiction therapy
- Victim-offender counselling
- Activities in the field of elderly care and geriatric psychiatry as well as in self-help projects
Is a doctorate possible with a Master's degree?
Yes, after completing a Master's degree in Social Work: Clinical Social Work, you have the opportunity to do a doctorate.
Doctoral support is structurally anchored in our programme. Prof. Dr Katrin Liel and Prof. Dr Matthias Laub are doctoral advisors at the Faculty of Social Work and are happy to help you achieve this goal.
We offer individual counselling and support for those interested in doing a doctorate and doctoral candidates, e.g. during consultation hours, information events or during the annual DGSA Doctoral Colloquium SüdOst.
