The concept
The seven-semester Bachelor's degree programme in Architecture at Landshut University of Applied Sciences is a contemporary combination of proven and practice-oriented architectural teaching with the comprehensive climate- and resource-related transformation of the construction industry. Students learn to apply practical and scientific findings independently and to implement them in a sustainable way using analogue and digital methods in design, construction and presentation. Great emphasis is also placed on sensitising students to their social responsibility.

The focus is on the natural transformation of the "resource" of existing buildings. This includes strategies for further construction and utilisation in cooperation with monument protection, as well as intergenerational construction. Questions of sustainability range from considerations of the structural context and social neighbourhood to the choice of materials. Subjects such as conversion, continued use, simple, circular and modular construction do not run alongside "classic" architecture teaching, but are part of the focus of this architecture degree programme, interlinked on an equal footing.
In order to authentically practise the regional, sustainable transformation and use of existing buildings, we are leading by example and deliberately setting up the degree programme on two tracks. Teaching studios and workshops take place both on campus and in vacant buildings within the city of Landshut. These vacant buildings are temporarily reused or repurposed and form an integral part of the teaching programme.
At the same time, communicative and participative skills are established and promoted in order to fulfil the role of graduates as moderators and initiators of the transformation of the construction industry in politics and society.
The strength
A great strength of Landshut University of Applied Sciences is the small semester courses and the associated individual support opportunities, as well as the personal contact between students and lecturers: a good prerequisite for a comprehensive, versatile and successful education.
We go on site, develop projects together, also with other degree programmes, and test the skills we have developed as a team.
