Valentina Speidel is the new Vice President for Academic Affairs

Prof. Dr. Valentina Speidel as Vice-President for Studies and Teaching is a clear sign of the further development of key areas of higher education.

With the appointment of Prof. Dr. Valentina Speidel as Vice President for Studies and Teaching, Landshut University of Applied Sciences is sending a clear signal for the further development of key areas of higher education. University President Prof. Dr. Fritz Wirtz emphasized: “With Valentina Speidel, we have gained a strong driving force for innovative teaching at our university and beyond as Vice President.”

Further expanding the framework conditions for good teaching and learning

Valentina Speidel is Professor of Human Resource Management at the Business School. In her new position, she would particularly like to strengthen the conditions that enable good teaching and learning. “I would like to expand the framework conditions that enable teachers and students to teach and learn well,” said Speidel. She is particularly keen to support teachers in developing practical, activating teaching methods and in the meaningful use of digitalization and artificial intelligence in teaching.

Many years of experience in science and practice

After almost 20 years in business, primarily in human resources, the Dresden native has been working at Landshut University of Applied Sciences since March 2008. She studied and earned her doctorate at Humboldt University in Berlin in the field of finance.

Valentina Speidel has already taken on numerous positions of responsibility at Landshut University of Applied Sciences, including chair of the senate, dean, and teaching mentor. She also contributes her expertise as a long-standing teaching trainer at BayZiel, the Bavarian Center for Innovative Teaching. In 2022, she was awarded the Teaching Prize for her outstanding teaching achievements, further underscoring her special qualities in this field.

Research and teaching at the heart of university development

“Studying, teaching, promoting young talents, and research are core areas of our university, which we will continue to promote and develop with great commitment,” said University President Wirtz. The appointment of Valentina Speidel is intended in particular to further strengthen the anchoring of innovative teaching concepts and practical didactics in the university's identity.
