A total of 40 students and coaches from six European countries – Denmark, Finland, Spain, Croatia, Lithuania and Germany – and Mexico worked together to develop start-up ideas, which they presented to a jury at the end of the week. The participants gained practical insights into the world of entrepreneurship.
An intensive programme with practical relevance
The week began with a warm welcome from the city of Landshut, represented by City Councillor Patrizia Steinberger, and a guided tour of the historic old town. This was followed by workshops on topics such as idea generation, value proposition, business model design and pitch training, accompanied by Professor Bernd Mühlfriedel, Professor Sandra Gronover and a dedicated team of coaches from five countries.
Special highlights included excursions to regional innovation centres such as HIVEMQ, ASIS GmbH and Minitube, where students were able to discuss their ideas directly with entrepreneurs. ASIS GmbH, for example, offered exciting insights into current automation projects and enabled elevator pitches in a real production environment.
Creativity meets culture
In addition to intensive project work, there was also plenty of time for cultural experiences: a trip to Regensburg, joint dinners and a festive closing evening at the Burgschänke Landshut provided the setting for international exchange. In a relaxed atmosphere, the achievements of the week were celebrated and new friendships deepened.
Senka Borovac Zekan, participant and coach from Croatia, is enthusiastic: "I am really impressed by the Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) that I attended last week in Landshut. Together with 32 students and 8 mentors from six countries, we developed new business ideas in teams. I am very grateful for this opportunity and would like to thank Landshut University of Applied Sciences and my home university, the University Department of Professional Studies. A big thank you also goes to Prof. Dr. Bernd Mühlfriedel and Prof. Dr. Sandra Gronover for organising this great programme!"
‘Entrepreneurial spirit cannot simply be taught, it has to be experienced. That is precisely the aim of Ideation Week – real challenges, teamwork and practical experience create a lasting learning effect,’ emphasises Prof. Dr. Bernd Mühlfriedel.
A European network emerges
‘LA Ideation Week shows how much potential there is in international cooperation,’ says Prof. Dr. Sandra Gronover, co-organiser of the week. ‘Our students not only learn entrepreneurial thinking, but also how to work successfully in intercultural teams.’
The event was organised by the Business School at Landshut University of Applied Sciences and supported by the International Office, the Landshut University of Applied Sciences Start-up Centre and the GründungsHUB Ostbayern network, which is committed to promoting start-up talent in the region.
Outlook
The enthusiasm for the format was so great that the University of Lleida (Spain), itself a participant this year, has taken over the organisation of the next BIP. In 2026, Ideation Week will therefore take place in Spain – with new ideas, new teams and the same passion for innovation and collaboration.
