Landshut University of Applied Sciences has received outstanding results in the latest CHE University Ranking, which has been published in the new ZEIT study guide for 2019/20: Electrical Engineering and Information Technology as well as Mechanical Engineering were evaluated and, according to the students surveyed, are leading courses across Germany.
Performed by the Centre for Higher Education (CHE), a third of the courses on offer throughout Germany are re-evaluated each year for the University Ranking. This year, the courses being re-inspected included Mechanical Engineering, and Electrical Engineering and Information Technology. Here Landshut University of Applied Sciences is in the top group across almost all categories.
In particular, the equipment of the labs used in research and teaching by the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering was rated as above average by comparison with other universities. This led to it being ranked in the top group. The course also earned its place at the top due to the support provided at the start of the course and due to degrees being completed within an appropriate timeframe. The good level of closeness to professional practice, which was above average, likewise pushed the course into the best category and this was also achieved thanks to the high proportion of excellent teaching staff who are active in the industry. The items of criticism on which feedback was received are regarded as a mission and additional motivation to improve the direction and implementation of the course offering even further.
The degree in Electrical Engineering and Information Technology came very far up the ranking, particularly by comparison with other universities in Bavaria. According to the detailed breakdown of the student surveys, it is in the top group in the key categories of teaching and studies, equipment, international focus, and job market and professional relevance. This course likewise scored well on its highly advanced labs and equipment in particular. The students feel that lecturers look after and support them very well.
For Vice President of the University Prof. Petra Tippmann-Krayer, the outstanding result for the two courses confirms the university’s strategy of focusing on the quality of its teaching. “We have managed to adapt the course content to the current developments in the economy and to design it attractively, thus keeping the quality of the teaching exceptionally high,” says Tippmann-Krayer. “All lecturers want their students to be enthusiastic about learning and for the conditions to be ideal in a personal atmosphere – these top CHE results underpin this joy in teaching.”
