Objectives

This course is designed to give you an appreciation of the proper use of statistics and statistical terms that may be encountered in textbooks, magazines, journals, and on radio and television. Interpretation of results is just as important as the computation of results. Successful completion of this course will enable you to:

  • describe a set of data using graphs and summary statistics
  • compute basic probabilities for experiments and probability distributions
  • use sample data to inferences about population parameters, both for continuous and categorical variables

Contents of the module:

The fundamentals of modern statistical methods, descriptive and inferential statistics, probability and sampling; primarily for students in fields other than mathematics who need a working knowledge of statistics.

After successful completion of this course students:
  • Are able to communicate competently in spoken and written forms at an upper-intermediate level (Level B2)
  • Get introduced to the subjects renewable energy, smart buildings and electric mobility with a focus on enabling them to subsequently participate in more advanced courses instructed in English

F131, C1 level

After successful completion of this course, students are able to communicate competently in written forms at a lower-advanced level (Language level C-1 according to the Common European Framework for Languages).

The primary goal of this course is to deepen students comprehension of the course subjects, renewable energy, smart buildings and electric mobility (e-mobility) with a focus on enabling students to clearly communicate opinions about these subjects in English.

This course will not only deepen their knowledge of the subject material in English, but provide participants with the language skills to succeed in more advanced English academic courses of a related nature.

The University of Applied Sciences Landshut offers a German language course for all foreign students who are keen on learning German.

Beginners' courses are always offered in both the summer and winter semesters. Overall, the levels will be adapted to the needs of the students from the respective semester.

Please note that not all levels can always be available due to our capacities.

We offer various English courses for C1 level with different topics on campus. Each course has 2 ECTS.
