Access to the Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) of HAW Landshut

Service IT's virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) provides you with virtual desktop computers via the Internet that run on servers within Landshut University's data centers. These virtual computers can be used device-independently and worldwide and can be adapted to the requirements of the users in terms of equipment and the operating system used.

Requirements:

  • You need an existing enrollment or active employment at Landshut University of Applied Sciences
  • You need a valid HAW user ID
  • You need an active internet connection

If you meet the requirements, you can perform the following steps:

  • In your browser, go to vdi.haw-landshut.de.
  • Select the following option: "Install VMware Horizon Client".

  • Select the appropriate operating system of the VMware Horizon Client you want to install and download it.
  • All major operating systems and even mobile devices and tablets are supported.
  • To do this, click on "Go to Downloads" at the end of the corresponding line.

  • Launch the file you just downloaded.
  • Then press "Accept and Install" to accept the privacy agreement and license terms and start the installation.

  • The VMware Horizon Client is installed.

  • After that, press "Finish"

  • Then press "Restart now"

  • Double-click the "Add Server" button

  • Enter the following as the name of the connection server: vdi.haw-landshut.de
  • Then press "Connect"

  • Enter your HAW ID as the user name and the corresponding password as the password
  • Then press "Log in" to enter the selection interface
