Funding Opportunities

In order to support the international mobility of students, various funding sources are available.

We support all enrolled students within a

  • study stay abroad (1-2 semesters)
  • internship stay abroad (1 Semester)
  • short-term stay abroad (Summer Schools, international excursions etc.)

In addition, funding is also available to support the academic success of degree seeking students.

The following process applies to study abroad visits at partner universities (ERASMUS+ and worldwide):

If you are applying to one of our partner universities, you can apply for PROMOS scholarships and grants from the Bavarian State Ministry of Education and Research or ERASMUS+ simply by applying online via Mobility ONLINE. The application is then processed in the workflow after you have provided us with all the necessary documents.

For all other stays abroad (free mover, summer school, excursions, internships) as well as degree seeking students, the following process applies:

Please apply by submitting an application for support to the International Office (N0 03)

  • for the winter semester until June 15,
  • for the summer semester until January 15.

Applications must be submitted in due time. The corresponding applications can be downloaded from the various funding sources.

If the allocated funds are exhausted, only stays without financial support can be granted.

The following documents must be handed in (if you are not applying via Mobility ONLINE):

  • Application form (incl. letter of motivation)
  • For studies: Letter of Acceptance of the chosen university / college abroad
  • For internships: internship contract (can also be submitted later if necessary)

The selection for the scholarships, which are directly administered at the university (ERAMUS / PROMOS / StaMi), will be made according to the following principles:

  • transparent application procedure
  • qualitative selection procedure (selection board university management and International Office)
  • Information and advice on applications and possible funding levels
  • non-discriminatory selection (within the meaning of the AGG). ERASMUS+ promotes equal opportunities and inclusion, For this reason, access to the ERASMUS+ programme is made easier for learners from disadvantaged backgrounds and with special needs.
  • Selection on the basis of the following objective, performance-related criteria
    • Study performance and progress
    • Relevance of the stay abroad
    • Language skills
    • ERAMUS studies only: at least 1 completed academic year
    • only for ERASMUS: compulsory ONLINE language test
    • only for StaMi-applications: Neediness and merit

  • You will be informed about the decision as early as possible (usually in the summer semester in February and in the winter semester at the beginning of August)

Immediately after completion of the measure, all grant beneficiaries are required to submit a report of at least 1 page to the International Office or upload it to Mobility ONLINE.

ERASMUS+ participants will also receive an ONLINE link from the DAAD at the end of their stay abroad. Please note that the reports must be prepared in order to receive the total funding!
