Smart energy grids: combining generation, storage and consumption

Germany's power grid is reliable and efficient. To keep it that way as the share of renewable energies grows, it needs to become more flexible. This involves intelligently combining the various ways of generating, storing and consuming electricity - experts refer to this as smart grids.

To this end, scientists at TZ Energie are researching innovative information and communication technologies and various systems for energy management, i.e. decentralized, local, regional, energy-efficient supply models. The focus here is on intelligent management of energy storage systems.
