Joint research for more sustainability

The Landshut University of Applied Sciences is a member of the BayWISS "Life Sciences and Green Technologies" academic network

Application accepted unanimously: Landshut University of Applied Sciences has joined the Bayerisches Wissenschaftforum's (BayWISS) "Life Sciences and Green Technologies" academic network with retroactive effect from February 2020. This means the Landshut doctoral student Jonathan Schubert and Prof Dr Karl-Heinz Pettinger, as supervising scientist, are now among the network's members. The aim of the cooperation platform is to explore new ways for Bavarian universities and universities of applied sciences to cooperate, to pool the expertise of both types of universities and to strengthen the culture of scientific exchange. In his dissertation, Schubert is researching environmentally friendly sodium ion batteries. For the cooperative doctorate, Pettinger is working together with Prof Dr Michael Danzer (University of Bayreuth, BayBatt Research Centre).

Solutions for sustainable development

"I am delighted that Landshut University of Applied Sciences is represented in the "Life Sciences and Green Technologies" academic network," says Pettinger, scientific director at the Landshut University of Applied Sciences Energy Technology Centre in Ruhstorf an der Rott. Together with colleagues, he has been working on the energy revolution, researching new technologies in the fields of energy storage, intelligent energy networks, energy efficiency and systems. Thematically, research in the "Life Sciences and Green Technologies" academic network addresses pressing global problems and promotes approaches to solutions to ensure sustainable development. The cross-university network of young and experienced researchers initiates joint projects and externally funded research. In addition, it supports doctoral projects and further develops cooperative doctoral research. Further information can be found at https://life-sciences.baywiss.de.
