    The study programme / profile

Your studies with us will prepare you to independently apply scientific knowledge and methods in mechanical engineering and to work successfully in this field. Thanks to a comprehensive basic education with a strong practical focus, you will quickly find your feet in various technical application areas and develop creative solutions to challenges. We also offer a range of specialisation options, from Energy and Environmental Engineering to International Mechanical Engineering with the option of a semester abroad at a partner university.

A successful engineering career requires not only specialist knowledge, but also an understanding of business contexts, which we teach you. In addition, you will acquire specialised foreign language skills and train further skills in order to be optimally prepared for the demands of mechanical engineering.

    Specialization

In the third semester, you will have the opportunity to choose one of the available specialisations in order to set your study focus. In the following fourth semester, you will take the first courses in your chosen specialisation.

    Contents and course of study

The degree programme comprises six theoretical semesters and a practical semester in the fifth semester. In the first three semesters, basic sciences such as engineering mathematics, materials science and design are taught, which are deepened in the fourth semester. The programme concludes in the seventh semester with a Bachelor's thesis. Practical training is an integral part of the programme and takes place in industrial companies, technical institutions and public administration offices outside the university.

    Dual study programme

The dual study programme is a practice-oriented form of study that combines theoretical course content at universities with professional practice in a company. During their dual study programme, students complete both lectures at the university and practical assignments at the company, allowing them to acquire both academic knowledge and practical experience at the same time.

    Prospects after graduation

Graduates of the Bachelor's degree programme in Mechanical Engineering have a wide range of career prospects in industry and research. They can work in the development, design and production of innovative technical solutions. In view of the growing importance of sustainability, they are also in demand to promote resource-saving and environmentally friendly technologies.

    Requirement profile
